Angling News for April
Springtime Fishing is Here!
With ski season coming to an end we've been eager to get out on the river. The warm weather we've been having has been quickly melting the high-elevation snow, which is good news for us. This is the most extended period of runoff ever, which means clear flows and optimal spring fishing! As the rivers swell with runoff, many anglers will hang up the fly gear, but there are many overlooked opportunities for some great fishing!
We have found that the nymph and streamer fishing has been excellent in the morning and late afternoon, especially using stone flies, San Juan worms, egg patterns, midges and blue winged olives. Early evening dry fly fishing has been epic as well, with fish rising consistently and abundantly!
The river is changing rapidly this time of year, so feel free to come on in to Straightline for a more detailed report or some tips from our great guides! We'd love to see what everyone has been catching lately, post a picture of your latest catch on our facebook page!
