Fishing Report 2.20.19 - Written by Sean Gamble
Winter days don’t just mean tying flies and staring at bobbers, the fly fishing has been excellent, especially right before storms. The days are getting longer, and the temperatures are warming as we creep into spring. The long-term forecast is calling for more sunshine and warmer temps mean hungrier fish! They are metabolizing well and eating a variety of bugs not just midges, although those are certainly still productive.
The streamer bite is starting to pick up as well. Day by day as more ice comes off the river, we see more fish that haven’t seen flies in a while which makes it a great time to get on the water! Our private waters are fishing better than ever right now, all trips have been super successful.
There is still plenty of ice on the lakes as well, so there are plenty of options for those that don’t want to fly fish and if you are interested in keeping your catch, we can get you out on the lake! Ice fishing has continued to be extremely productive, with the cloudy days tending to produce the bigger fish.
Taking a break in the middle of your ski vacation to fish is not only a great way to rest your body, but also experience something new! If you are interested in booking a fly fishing or ice fishing trip with us, contact us today!
