After a good winter and a late spring, it looks like we will have plenty of water this summer. The Yampa and Elk rivers are up pretty high right now, but don't let that scare you away from fishing it. the water has cleared up and fishing is great.

If your fishing from the shore, where ever you find slower water, the fish are probably at your feet. The fish won't be holding in any of the fast heavy water. Try nymphing deep with a leech, stonefly, and San Juan worm. As the water continues to clear up the fish will turn on to smaller beadhead nymphs like a prince nymph or copper John. Streamer fishing is getting very productive as well. A few patterns we have been doing well on are slumpbusters, mini dungeons, double gongas, and skully buggers.

Floating the river has been extremely productive lately. We are starting to book up for June, but have a few trips available still. Give us a call if you have any questions about floating.
