Tail Waters/Sarvis Creek Fishing -

Fishing Report for 2.11.21 - Written by Ben Rock

Today’s fishing report is brought to you by Ben Rock.

The winter weather is fully upon us, with the resort reporting 26 total inches last week and up to 30 inches in the five day forecast. Although slush on the ice is still an issue with the new snow, the ice conditions are safe if you’re looking to go out and fish.

Although bluebird days are more scenic and comfortable, look out for upcoming overcast days with snow flurries because the fish like to bite more in those conditions. It’s really all about the balance of keeping yourself comfortable on those colder days. Make sure to double up on socks, use toe warmers, and especially wear a good pair of waterproof boots. We also recommend using a pair of snowshoes for the slush. If you don’t own a pair, we have snowshoe rentals available for only $12/day.

Even with all the snow Steamboat is getting, the Yampa River section through town is fishing really well. In addition to this, we recommend checking out  Sarvis Creek and the Tailwaters. The temperatures over the next 10 days are not expected to cause the ice shelves to reform.

If you need directions to any of our recommended areas, feel free to stop by the store. Cheers until next week!

Happy fishing!
