Fishing Report for 4.26.22
April has been nothing but unpredictable weather. Last week Steamboat had temps in the low 70’s and this last weekend we got hit with over five inches of snow. It’s difficult to predict what we can expect for the last stretch of April, but what we do know is that floating season is upon us! May really is one of our favorite times of the year. There’s nothing like hanging out on a boat all day and catching fish. It's currently 29°F with a high of 50°F and mix of sunshine and clouds. The snow is still melting, especially at higher...

Happy first week of Spring! The weather is really starting to heat up as we head into the early season. The main difference between March and last month is that now most of the Yampa through town is fully accessible. We have had enough consistent warm weather in the last few weeks that the Yampa from top access of town to bottom access of town is completely open. It's Tuesday, October 19. Today is cloudy with a high of 40°F. Rain and snow showers are in the forecast for this afternoon with the rest of the week expected to be partly cloudy in the mid to high-50's. Three months later cooler temperatures and more moisture, less recreational demand, and favorable oxygen levels has led to the reopening. The City of Steamboat Springs and Colorado Parks & Wildlife are...

It’s Wednesday, September 29. It's currently 49°F with a high of 51°F. So far it’s been a cloudy, cool morning with a few scattered rain showers. As we head into October, it looks like Steamboat may be past our warmest days and we really couldn’t be happier. The cold weather is helping the conditions on the river. We’re starting to see Mahogany Duns on the water and the Blue Wings are starting to hatch.Autumn fly patterns typically fall into two categories: nymph and dry fly patterns. These smaller flies match the insects trout feed on at this time of year. Dry fly...
