The city of Steamboat Springs announced Wednesday afternoon that it will enact a commercial and voluntary closure of the Yampa River beginning at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. It’s been cold here in the Yampa Valley but the fishing has been fantastic! Last week we kicked off our guided ice fishing tours and had an awesome time out there on the ice. There’s been a couple of trips out to Stagecoach Reservoir so far and we caught some sizable trout and pike. We had a lot of success at 20 to 25 feet depth.
