December Snow Report

Early season this year has been phenomenal with plenty of snow fall and cold temperatures. The resort is completely open and the snow is SOFT! We have seen many frequent, smaller storms which have kept conditions excellent and terrain well-covered. Most tree runs are extremely well covered, which means no worrying about rocks, stumps and other natural obstructions.

On a powder day, be sure to head over to the Morningside lift which gives you access to steep and soft runs such as No Names, North Saint Pats, East Face and Wake Up Call. These trail require a short hike but are more than worth it on a day with good snow. Good snow can also be found in the trees accessible from Pony lift as well as in Closets and Shadows, two popular tree runs accessible from the Storm Peak lift.

Once Morningside begins to get tracked out, head over to sunny side and check out Land of The Little People, named after a small, boulder-studded clearing near the top of the run where the snow-capped rocks resemble gnomes. This run is accessible from South Peak lift, which also gives access to Broadway trees.

If you are looking for fun, soft groomers be sure to check out Quickdraw or Sunshine Lift Line, or if you are looking for a more challenging, steep groomer run try West Side or Rolex. All of these runs are on sunny side, which is further away from the crowds that you will find on lower mountain.

When you are ready to take a break be sure to try a bloody mary at Four Points Lodge. Or enjoy some apres-ski food and drink at T-Bar, which was voted one of the best Apres bars in the nation by Unofficial Networks.

Steamboat has some of the best snow in Colorado right now so be sure to get out there and enjoy it! We should see more snow today followed by warmer temperatures until the new year when it looks like a system should deliver more snow and colder temperatures.
