January 17th Snow Report
It has been pretty cold in the boat this week! Today the base temperature was 2F, mid-mountain was 20F and the summit was 12F. We are experiencing the same temperature inversion that we were last week, where you'll find the coldest temperature at the base of the mountain. The skies have been blue though and the trails haven't been too icy.
Our last storm gave us 2-3 days of decent powder, and the base is better than anywhere else in Colorado right now, there is almost enough coverage to explore any terrain and with the storm we are supposed to get this weekend, we think we will get there. The best change for skiing some powder will be this Sunday because snow is supposed to fall throughout the day, total snowfall should be in the 5-10 inch range by the time we get to the end of Sunday and temperatures shouldn't be as cold as they have been this week.
Sunnyside (sunshine and sundown lifts) has provided great groomer laps, and the 1:30 trees are really enjoyable, flowy, soft and covered enough now to go through easily. Vagabond has also been a great trail to cruise down on a sunny day, although we recommend cutting over to Betwixed to avoid ice and crowds on lower Vagabond.
Following this weekend storm, we should see some more snow, so everyone keep doing their snow dances!
