Last weekend did not disappoint with Steamboat Resort reporting 47 inches at the summit of the mountain. This morning we were welcomed with seven inches of fresh powder and more snow is in the forecast with up to 36 inches total over the next five days. February is turning out to be much better than January in terms of snowfall, but Steamboat’s snowpack is still 73 percent compared to the 30-year average. We’re in for a great week of snow! The current weather report is forecasting 30 inches over the next five days with up to three inches tonight, five inches tomorrow, 10 inches Friday, seven inches Saturday, and finally five inches Sunday. This consistent snow fall is great news for the ski area and we couldn’t be happier writing this report!Temperatures are up today with a high of 45° and will begin to drop later this afternoon and into the night. It’s currently 48°F in town and 30°F at the summit. It’s unusually warm for January and the conditions are becoming slushy at the base of Mount Werner. Temperatures will drop tonight and we can expect to see snow showers early into the morning. Saturday’s forecast is predicting 5 inches of snowfall total, snow the ski area could really use. The next snow storm isn’t expected until  Wednesday, February 3. But if 2021 has proved anything, it’s that Steamboat’s weather is unpredictable.Temperatures in the forecast are expected to rise again Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. It’s another beautiful sunny day here in Steamboat Springs! We’re looking forward to one more day of sunshine tomorrow, but more importantly we need snow and lots of it. The weather forecast going into the weekend looks promising. The forecast is showing that late tomorrow night it will start snowing and we can expect up to one inch. Conditions of the resort have been steadily improving with more snow coverage and consistently cold temperatures. The forecast for today is predicting three inches of snow later in the afternoon. Temperatures should be in the mid-twenties Thursday and Friday. Going into the weekend we may receive more snow Saturday night going into Monday morning.
